Rural Broadband

Broadband is now an essential part of life for all communities, businesses and individuals. Lack of access to broadband leads to increased exclusion, socially, financially and is exacerbated due to the decline of and remoteness from local services in most rural communities.

internet-1013673_1920Connecting Devon and Somerset  (CDS) has been set up to deliver next generation broadband infrastructure to areas where the market has failed to invest.

It is a public-private partnership of six local authorities (Somerset, Devon, North Somerset, Torbay, Plymouth and Bath and North East Somerset) and their delivery partner BT. Somerset County Council is the accountable body for the programme.
