Providing evidence to help communities deliver new homes
CCS has been working with communities to identify local housing needs since 2005. We produce quality Housing Needs Reports that;
- give Parish Councils evidence of general housing needs, which is useful when commenting on planning applications and in any pre-app discussions with developers
- show the level of affordable housing need, which can lead on to developing small housing schemes, by working with Housing Associations
- can influence local planning policy in the longer term
- can be used to provide evidence for Neighbourhood Plans
CCS can help Parish Councils through the whole process, from applying for funding (so it is cost neutral for the council), to devising a bespoke survey and producing an in-depth report.
We are currently working with 12 Parishes on Housing Needs surveys. A recent example is Batcombe in Mendip, where a survey of 210 homes in this deep rural village with high house prices found that 8 households were in need of affordable housing. The Parish Council will be taking this further with local landowners and a housing association in due course.
